Valentine’s Day comes along seemingly before we know it.  This year (2010), Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday, so expect the romance to last all weekend and be prepared with special Valentine gifts for her!

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year when we honor the women we love.  Valentine’s Day is all about love and romance and showing our wives and lovers and girlfriends thoughtful appreciation. On this day couples all around the world mark this occasion as a day for exchanging gifts, sending cards and poems, flowers or candy, etc. Your gift ideas don’t have to be flashy, though. Showing appreciation can sometimes mean simply putting the effort into cleaning the house and drawing a sensual bubble bath with candles for your mate. Maybe a weekend getaway is in order, or just a nice walk in the park and an indoor picnic lunch.

Giving her unique and beautiful earrings, bracelets, a necklace, a nice jewelry box, or a fine watch shows that you took the time and spent the resources to make her feel special.

Lingerie can be a great present. Just be sure you have an exact size if the item is to be close fitting. It is always a good bet to buy loose fitting lingerie when the gift is a surprise.

It has been said that a woman wears perfume when she wants to be kissed. You need to do your research to find out her favorite perfumes and fragrances.  Be a good detective and she will love you for it. It is always a good idea to keep a card in your wallet which has all her sizes, body measurements, perfume preferences, shoe sizes, etc. One really good source for this information is your sweet one’s best friend or sister.

The Story of Valentine’s Day

St. Valentine was a Christian martyr that ran afoul of the Roman Emperor Claudius II in 260 A.D. Claudius had instituted a law forbidding marriage in the hope that single men made better soldiers than married men. St Valentine had the courage to ignore the law (viva l’amore!) and kept performing marriages anyway. For this, he was sent to jail. While in jail, he met the jailer’s blind daughter, healed her of her blindness and became her true love. The emperor, hearing all this, came to visit St Valentine and attempted to get him to renounce his faith. Of course, St Valentine refused and tried to convert Claudius instead. Sadly, the cruel Claudius had St Valentine put to death on Feb 14th. All during this time, St Valentine sent the very first Valentine’s cards to the jailer’s daughter.
